Two-Hand Squeeze

5–7 min station
Teaches

Use two hands to secure the catch so the ball doesn’t pop out of the glove.

Bring ● Soft ball ● Glove
Setup
  • Helper stands about 8–10 feet away.
  • Use soft underhand tosses.
  • Player starts ready with glove out front.
  • A little point game keeps her attention locked in.
How it works
  1. Toss gently, right into her glove.
  2. She catches the ball in the pocket.
  3. Right after the catch, her throwing hand covers the ball to trap it.
  4. Reset and repeat. Keep tosses easy enough for clean reps.
  5. Optional: clean catch = her point, pop-out = helper’s point. First to 5.
Watch for
  • The throwing hand comes in after the catch — not before, or she can get her fingers hurt.
  • Hands come together quickly to secure the ball.
  • Glove stays open to receive it instead of closing too early.
What to say
Catch it, then cover it.
Two hands.
Squeeze it.
Yes — nice and secure!
High-five moments
  • Her top hand arrives right on time.
  • Three clean catches in a row.
  • She celebrates her own good catch before anyone else does.
Make it easier

Shorten the distance and soften the toss. Count clean catches out loud — every one is a win and every win builds her confidence.

Level it up

Add a silly rule: she has to whisper “trap” after each catch. Or toss from slightly off-angles so she has to adjust.

Key cue
“Catch it, trap it.”
